Los Altos, CA; Ottawa, Canada (PRWEB) November 14, 2006

Liquid Computing Inc., a developer of a new class of scalable computing system, today announced that it has received an Editor’s Choice Award from HPCwire. The award recognized Liquid Computing’s Interconnect Driven Server, LiquidIQ, as the Most Significant New HPC (High Performance Computing) Hardware Product or Technology in 2006.

“The HPCwire Editor’s Choice award reflects the collective voice of seasoned HPC community veterans and is recognition of organizations that are perceived to be changing the HPC industry,” said Mike Bernhardt, associate publisher, HPCwire. “Liquid Computing is a company that hasn’t just looked outside the box; they’re looking at a different box entirely. This award for Liquid Computing is quite fitting and recognizes the new path this exciting company is taking.”

Since 2003, Liquid Computing has taken best practices from the telecom sector to develop a new class of server. The LiquidIQ Interconnect Driven Server is designed to eliminate the communication and control bottlenecks that are pervasive in datacenters and carrier offices today. The server converges computing, networking and broadband technologies into one system fundamentally changing the underlying form, function and economics of scalable system deployment.

“Three years ago we set out to bring disruptive change to the computing industry with a new approach to scalable computing,” said Brian Hurley, CEO and President of Liquid Computing. “Receiving this award from our peers at HPCwire further validates that our innovative approach will revolutionize how scalable computing is implemented.”

HPCwire’s yearly Editor’s Choice Awards are determined by a survey of industry experts in the HPC ecosystem. Published by Tabor Communications, HPCwire is the most recognized and accessed news and information site covering the entire ecosystem of High Productivity Computing. HPCwire is the publication of choice for the global community of business and technology professionals interested in computationally- and data-intensive computing, including infrastructure topics such as software, middleware, hardware, networking, storage, tools and applications.

About Liquid Computing

Liquid Computing Inc. is first to deliver a new class of computer system called LiquidIQ to meet the needs of scalable computing users within Enterprise High Performance Computing and Software as a Service markets. LiquidIQ is the world’s first Interconnect Driven Server that delivers a set of managed computing and communications resources.
HUNTSVILLE, AL; ORLANDO, FL (PRWEB) March 11, 2005

Avocent today announced technology demonstrations of the LongView® Wireless LV4500W, which connects keyboard, video/monitor, mouse (KVM) and audio devices to a computer in line of sight up to 3,000 feet away without cables. Demonstrations are available at the Digital Signage Showcase of the NSCA Systems Integration Expo in Orlando on March 10 through 12 at booth #342. With LongView Wireless, Avocent adds another industry first to its arsenal of connectivity solutions. The new long range wireless solution will enable system administrators to monitor and manage the data center from a remote location without the need to deploy additional cabling. In addition to its application in KVM extension, the new LongView Wireless 4500 may have the largest impact on the digital signage and A/V markets with its ability to deliver high quality video and audio without VGA cabling.

The LongView Wireless requires no software or drivers and is compatible with virtually any PC, display or operating system. The system includes a wireless transmitter and receiver, power supplies and audio cables. The transmitter connects directly to the computer and serves as the radio interface device enabling the computer to transmit audio and video data wirelessly. The receiver connects to remote output devices including a keyboard, monitor, mouse and audio. Data is transmitted automatically once the receiver is powered on and begins communicating with the transmitter. A comprehensive auto set up quickly determines and establishes optimal settings for content being transmitted. The firmware features a user-friendly On Screen Display (OSD) for making adjustments and tuning the video settings. The Longview Wireless 4500 reaches distances up to 3,000 feet in line of sight installations and up to 300 feet through walls. The embedded directional antennas located in both the transmitter and receiver units enable the greater transmission distances than the LongView Wireless 3500.

LongView Wireless greatly reduces the security risks associated with many wireless products by utilizing a proprietary 802.11a link layer protocol, proprietary video compression and AES encryption. Avocent video compression and skew compensation results in video clarity that surpasses CAT5. LongView Wireless transmits video from a source computer up to 30 frames per second with XGA resolution (1024 x 768).

“The ability to run video wirelessly with a high level of security will give our customers an unprecedented amount of flexibility on where to locate equipment while eliminating cabling and cabling costs,” said Matt Nelson, director of strategic business, Avocent Wireless Technology. “Avocent is proud to offer these technical innovations ushering digital signage, data centers, classrooms, courtrooms and conference facilities among others into the wireless era.”
